Are you seeking a movement practice that will have a positive impact on your health, well-being and the way you live? You are unique and your health journey is personal. There is no single solution that works for everybody. Through working with me, you will experience a tailored and unique approach to achieving your well-being and fitness goals.

Do you wish you could move with more ease and flexibility? Do you want to feel more comfortable in your own skin? Are you dreaming of relaxing and breathing more easily, or being more present? Whatever you would like to achieve or explore in your private yoga classes, you will have my undivided attention and together we will work to improve your health and well-being.

Beginner?

Perhaps you have never done yoga before. Do you want to learn the basics before joining a group class?

Or maybe you’re not comfortable in group settings and this has prevented you from trying yoga.

Private yoga classes allow you to explore yoga at your own pace and develop your practice according to your own needs and preferences.

With more guidance than you would get in a group setting, you’ll establish good habits, right from the start.

Busy?

Private yoga classes are ideal if your days are hectic and you find it hard to fit in a regular class.

I will bring your yoga class to you – right into your own living room – at a time to suit you.

Are you looking to integrate more self-care into your routine?

Do you wish you could improve your ability to cope with stressful situations?

Let me help you to create the healthy body and mind that will enable you to truly enjoy life and flourish.

Health issues?

Your age, level of fitness, health and flexibility make no difference to the benefits you can receive from a regular yoga practice. In fact, those who are struggling the most have the most to gain!

I particularly enjoy working with those who have thought their age or physical disabilities would prevent them from ever trying yoga. Let me motivate and inspire you!

Perhaps you suffer from chronic pain, fatigue, stress or anxiety. I will help you to view your body and mind holistically, bring balance into your daily life and find well-being.

I teach yoga with a focus on functional movement and alignment. You can be sure that everything you learn will be carefully selected for your specific needs and safe for your body too. I will challenge and support you, so that you will get the maximum benefit from our session together and feel the difference that yoga can make to your body and mind.

Sessions will be tailored to suit your specific needs and preferences and may include…

Dru Yoga

Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, Dru works on body, mind and spirit, improving strength and flexibility, creating core stability, building a heightened feeling of positivity, and deeply relaxing and rejuvenating your whole being.

Designed to be practised by people of all abilities, all fitness levels and all age groups, Dru is a style of yoga that can be quickly dipped into or learnt in more depth over a lifetime.

Dru Yoga has its roots in hatha yoga, and includes classical yoga postures (asanas), pranayama (the science of breath), mudras (hand gestures), positive affirmations, empowering visualisations and powerful sequences performed in a flowing and dynamic style. Dru Yoga classes are tailored to the level of the individuals within the class and usually contain Energy Block Release Sequences (EBRs), graceful flowing yoga sequences, pranayama and relaxation.

Yin Yoga

Inspired by the philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yin Yoga primarily focuses on your meridians – invisible pathways in your body that carry energy, known as Qi or prana. Your meridians can become blocked by stress, trauma, injury, a poor diet, a lack of rest or not enough exercise. Any obstruction in your meridians can result in imbalances in your physical, emotional and mental health. In contrast, an unobstructed flow of Qi along open meridians will lead to increased balance and positive energy.

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative and deeply relaxing practice that can result in a deeper expansion in your consciousness. The floor-based postures are held for several minutes, engaging the fascia in your body to balance your internal organs and remove any obstructions in your meridians, making you less susceptible to symptoms associated with meridian blockages.

Dru Meditation

Dru Meditation is about finding a still inner point from which you can look at the world in a different way and discover a fresh, new perspective on your life. It doesn’t matter if you practice on a chair or cross legged on the floor, you will learn practical ways to still the body, quieten the mind and access a deep inner peace, no matter what challenges you might be facing. If you’re feeling agitated, Dru Meditation will bring you calmness. If you’re feeling exhausted, it will give you energy. If you’re feeling anxious, it will bring you peace.

Dru Meditation reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, reduces chronic pain, aids insomnia and helps you to gain mastery over your mind and emotions. Dru Meditation shows you how to bring your awareness from the physical body, through to the deepest layers of your being, moving into the precious peace, fullness, calm and clarity that resides within you and empowering you to live from that place.

In a Dru Meditation class, you will practice gentle Dru Yoga, relaxation and breathing techniques, which lead you naturally into a meditative state. Dru Meditation starts with gentle awareness of the body and breath, but what makes Dru Meditation so special is that it is practical and accessible. We will explore a variety of meditation techniques, which means you can find a technique that best suits you. You do not have to empty your mind to benefit from meditation – just enjoy the journey with a sense of acceptance. If you thought you were the kind of person who could never meditate, Dru Meditation is for you!

Self-Myofascial Release

Your body is primarily made up of fascia, or connective tissue. Fascia connects your muscles in chains so that they can move together and each organ and tissue in the body is held together via your fascia. Just like muscles, fascia can tighten, form scar tissue, restrict movement and cause pain.

Specially designed therapy balls can be used to provide targeted self-massage trigger point therapy. When combined with specific and focused movements, this helps to penetrate through layers of skin and muscle to massage deeply into your high tension areas. Applying myofascial release therapy in this way is an integrated way to treat pain, from headaches to back pain to plantar fasciitis.

Sound Healing

Would you believe that sound can actually alter cellular and molecular structure? Depending on your goal for your session, sound can be used as a complementary healing modality for your physical and emotional wellbeing, or it can simply be enjoyed for the pleasure of the experience.

A master Himalayan singing bowl will be ‘sung’ whilst positioned in various places on your body. You will feel the deep vibrations and positive energy resonate throughout the cells of your body. This is a very enjoyable experience and the bowl is a favourite with everyone!

The master bowl covers the full spectrum of sound and you will naturally absorb those parts of the spectrum you need. Hence, the bowl sounds different when ‘sung’ on different people, different places of the body and on different days. Thus, the healing power of the treatment rests entirely in the relationship between you and the master bowl. I am merely the facilitator.

Sound healing is a great choice for the relaxation component of your session and can be enjoyed for as much or as little time as you choose.

Dru Yoga Nidra

Dru Yoga Nidra (or ‘yogic sleep’) is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping which is induced through a structured guided relaxation. It is a journey that ultimately leads to the state of enlightenment.

Together we will explore Dru Yoga Nidra not only as the practice of a technique but also as a state of consciousness, honouring that this is a process that can transform your life. Our focus will be on the healing, spiritual awakening and self-empowerment aspect of Dru Yoga Nidra.

“Strive to discover the mystery before life is taken from you. If while living you fail to find yourself, to know yourself, how will you be able to understand the secret of your existence after you die?” ~ Farid ud-Din Attar

TESTIMONIALS

Happy people I’ve helped

{

Never thought I would ever hear myself saying it...

but I have found genuine pleasure from something that started as a support for the ageing and aching body but has ended up energising me and has given me a far more positive outlook on most things – both physical and mental. I have turned from a sceptic on alternative lifestyles to a supporter. Keep up the good work.

Fiona is very patient, calm and encouraging.

She has given me the confidence to take up yoga, which I was sure would be impossible for someone of my age with creaky joints.
